Lifejacket
A lifejacket is a vest with a collar at the neck to prevent drowning. This
turns a (unconscious) person onto his or her back so that the mouth and nose
stay above the water. Lifejackets are also available for small babies a few
months.
For use on board all (Sea) Ships subject to the Shipping Decree,
to be worn in all situations where the possibility of man-overboard is not
fully excluded and where a great freedom of movement is needed (for working)
for example at:
- Welding work
- Grinding work
- Maintenance work
Work vests have a great overcapacity of buoyancy so they keep
you floatating in the water.
Work vests can/may not replace Solas Lifejackets.
